Oh My god I have a blog.
I am starting this blog to keep track of my family’s progress through the Parenting on Track program. This is a 12 week class given by Vicki Hoefle on momtv.com. (Monday nights at 9 pm on http://www.momtv.com/yourfamily.html) The reason it’s not totally day one is that we (my husband and I) took Vicki’s class last November. We learned soooooo much. We changed soooooo much. But now I am doing it again – because I have caught myself falling back into too many old habits. Plus I love the progress I’ve seen with our family (not just the kids!), am addicted and want more. You’ll have to log onto www.parentingontrack.com to get the program explained more elequoently but it’s really good stuff that I belive in. It is really hard and does not usually come easy to me. I don’t want perfect kids – I want kids who are self confident and know who they are. Know what they are going to fight for and what they want out of life. I care less about the behavior piece now (funny because that’s why I started) and more about who they will be when they leave here at 18. And that they have the skills they need to get through life so they can worry about the big important stuff – not the little things. Two teenage girls in one house was sort of freaking me out too…..
I’m Blogging to keep me honest through this journey. This is blog is more for me than anyone else. This will hold me accountable and make me admit how often I do the things I want to stop doing. Hence the title.
I do feel like it’s sort of cheating that we’re not so totally new to the Parenting on Track program but I am really excited to “start fresh”. I am incidently, the only one in the family looking forward to the fresh start.
Speaking of family – I’m married to a terrific guy who is the ying to my yang. I’m the one on the swing swaying back and forth and he’s holding the rope picking up all the stuff I keep dropping. He’ll be jumping in more after the do nothing, say nothing section which is just a few inches beyond his comfort zone. Together we have two awesome girls – a 6.5 year old first grader who I’ll call Emily and a 5 year old pre-schooler who I’ll call Annie.
So please read on – but WARNING - this will be full of weird posts, rambling disjointed thoughts and spelling mistakes. But hopefully some humor to keep me writing and you reading!
